I, like every parent, want my children to receive the best education possible. Prior to being elected to the ISD 728 School Board, I served for two years as Co-Chair of the Legislative Action Team.  I became aware of the State funding structure with its antiquated formula and its failure to districts like ours.  As a School Board Member and parent, I feel it is imperative to continue to advocate for equitable funding for our district.
For the past four years on the School Board I have:
Actively supported accountability for results at all levels of the organization.
Consistently voted to implement what is necessary to realize our mission and implement elements of our Strategic Plan.
Pressed for decisions to assist in regaining our financial health.
Been relentless in assuring that our district leaders move this district forward.
If re-elected I will strive to achieve:
Operating our budget in the black.
Implementation of technology and programming to equip our children for the fast changing world of work.
Funding equity from the State of Minnesota.
Continue building resource equity for students across the district.
Launch new online courses to address all students needs.
The School Board transacts matters pertaining to the maintenance and operation of the state’s eighth largest school district. The School Board is elected to represent the taxpayer's interests in determining how our schools will operate. The state gives the School Board the authority and responsibility to:
Develop and adopt policies for the operation of the schools.
Employ a superintendent to provide educational leadership for the district and to serve as its chief administrative officer.
Provide materials, equipment, supplies and facilities to support an effective educational program.
Express and represent the view of the school district community on educational issues.
Provide equal educational opportunities for every child in accordance with state and federal statutes.
